Pure Running and AirPOS Pay - Retail Is A Marathon, Not A Sprint...

Michael Jenkins owner of the Pure Running specialist retail store in Belfast, Northern Ireland talks about his AirPOS Pay journey, including switching from a previous outdated Point of Sale system by Worldpay all the way to selling online with Shopify.

Pure Running are Belfast's specialist running and fitness sports shop. The company's co-founder, Michael Jenkins, explains why he chose AirPOS and AirPOS Pay to help him operate and scale his independent retail business.

With over 25 years of retail experience before going it alone, Michael knew the good, the bad, and the ugly in point of sale and payments. As he exited the former franchise he had worked with, he moved away from a legacy point of sale system to the AirPOS cloud system and switched from Worldpay payments to save money. He also benefited from the fully integrated nature of AirPOS Pay, making the all-important task of processing transactions easier for his staff and faster for his customers.

Later, the business added selling online through the AirPOS Shopify integration, an expansion that "saved the business" according to Michael during the COVID-19 lockdowns. This has since helped them expand further by adding the ability to buy online to the business's channels.

In 2024, Pure Running will also use AirPOS Pay to expand further by operating a pop-up shop at prominent running events such as the Belfast Marathon and the Dublin Marathon.

At AirPOS Pay, we're proud of our long association with Pure Running and doubly proud that we've been able to help a high street entrepreneur like Michael to both survive and thrive when his business needed us most.

"AirPOS has been perfect for a startup retail business working in a niche, independent way. AirPOS just ticked all the boxes for us and we knew we could grow steadily together..." Michael Jenkins, Pure Running
